Oribe-ware Ceramics

Oribe Furate was a Daimyo (Feudal Lord) and a master of the tea ceremonies during the Momoyama era (1573 - 1603) and inspired this type of Mino-ware.

Oribe-ware has distinctive characteristics including a green glaze and unbalanced lines that resemble dripping water. Many of the designs are based on every day life and natural environments around us.

The uneven finish of this style of ceramic has come to be seen in Jpanese culture as having a richly expressive beuty.

Modern Square Plate

If you have a dark coloured plate like this what kind of food do you serve?

I served cocoa pancakes and fruit on this plate.to match and have a strong contrast with the plate at the same time.

This is just a homemade hamburger, But It is looks fancy served on this plate doesn't it?

This plate really brings out the food's colour.

Lunch Box Idea with Bento Bowl and Totoro Bento Box

I felt like eating rice omelet today so cooked and served with fruit salad for lunch.

I don't know what western people call rice omelet in Japan we call it omu-rice.

It's funny English, isn't it?

You can eat rice omelet everywhere in Japan it is almost as popular as ramen.

I made a bento for my 4 year old daughter.

This lunch box has her favorite characters My Neighbor Totoro

She loves flower shaped carrot, if I cut in circles she may not eat.

Japanese Bars

There are so many small bars in Japan.

If you want to see deep Japan I recommend go to some small bars.

When I went to Japan, My friend took me to a snack bar 'villa' in Ofuna.

The bar had a nice atmosphere, people talking together, drinking together and singing karaoke together!

The owner made a bento for our website, her cooking is amazing!

They were very creative and very nutritious bentos

Thanks you so much villa!!
